Barge between Darwin & Nhulunbuy

11..The Morning Report

The morning report… The engines have stopped, only reason for that is *fish*… lolOk back a bit .. had a horrible night of itching like crazy ..and this morning I feel slightly puffy in my face and a little numbish.. Santa joined me in bed after his night shift at the helm at around 6am I think.. I was tossing n turning and itching and didn’t like to disturb him so got up .. I thought it was around 10am but it was only 8am.. Soo after dave arrived to get a cuppa so got me one too. Then graham came down and helped me with breaky.. Then at 8:30am santa awoke and got up to have breaky, we were sitting here chatting when the engines stopped and both turned to each other and said *fish* lol So he went up on deck and I’m here writing and waiting for graham to tell me what it was. It was just a shark. So I wandered up stairs to the loo and sat up there for some time. Its now noon and hubby is checking the oil , fuel and all that .. he has been doing it daily since the start… he also is using the journal I got him before leaving perth .. and my journal is here. While up on deck I took a few photos.. of how calm the water is … its just amazing to me. I was told by graham it was little rough last night .. I didn’t really notice much but was a little rolly in the bed. But then I was horribly distracted by the itches … yes the whole lot of me itched … , I still have red patches over me but they are very slowly going away .. each day is a new pink and less rashy.. Although my back is still very itchy… in certain spots .. and this morning I felt puffy , both keith and graham didn’t think so .. on arrival at Darwin, I think it will be a good idea just to get checked out by the drs there and see if my blood results have come back from Gove hospital. Its gonna then be a long journey home.. so much we have to consider. And the one of the reels went buzzin… fish graham yells. Dad runs to see and grab his rod. And the verdict is Barracudda… yum apparently according to Dave. Dave and Keith have swapped shifts, dave is watching the horizon with graham and keith is snoozing in bed … I’d go crawl in there with him but I don’t want to disturb his sleep. He needs decent sleep. So I’m sitting here itching away. Oh what can this thing be.. if it was the aloe vera , I’m away from that now and that rash is almost back to normal skin. The Chlorhexadine rash is still slightly red, but not as bumpy , I thought this morning it was going away.. but after the allegy pill at lunch I seem to be itchier.. its got to be environmental .. if it was the sheets or the pillows I’d not be itchy sitting here. And if it was the sheets I’d have it all over …its confined to my upper torso and arms.. I’m stumped , I’ve suggested we go to the hospital to see if Gove found anything abnormal. Beside just me … lolThe evening report.. no more fish caught, 1 false alarm. I have been sitting outside this afternoon its so amazing the water is so calm.. we have been really lucky with the weather. I think I got burned from my morning up on deck with the reflection from the water, as I was in the shade the whole time. We have to be so very careful.. Had dinner on deck too , was just a ravioli and creamy sauce. But its enough and quick and easy to cook and clean .. Both santa and dave are up on deck tonight as we are coming into Darwin. Probably arrive in the wee hours so dave is showing keith the way through. Both guys had a good sleep today and are up for it. There are a few options for me to get off the boat an d onto shore … we’ll see how we go for that.. Can’t wait to get a signal to call libby and kenny to let them know we are ok and got to Darwin safely ..6Debbie Shillingford, Diana Laing and 4 others1 CommentLikeCommentShare
