nights

23.. Exmouth

Onto exmouth… the days were grand with a couple of biggish drives not too bad and the nights we managed to find little islands to hide behind to have a fish and just relax… so…. We get to Exmouth late at night so we had to park up outside with rollers most of the night …crap … and then big ones in the morning double crap … so I have internet and call around for the harbour master… we got her and quickly went into the harbour… whew out of the rollers… finally my muscles can relax … your muscles sure get a work out on a boat … rocking this way then that way .. trying to stay in a seated position .. lol
So we get in and start to get the fuel sorted when she asks for our insurance ( of which we don’t have) so she parks us up and another guy comes help with fuel and so when he was done keith was sure she said park up in a bay… but she reckons she didn’t .. not to worry … I could step off the boat … and so away we went into Exmouh … very small place indeed… what grabs my attention is no taxis, what … how can we get around … plenty of cars for hire though ..but they are all out … we got one cool … figuring we could stay about 4 days till our nice weather window happens…. Nup … no sireeee according to her highness harbour master we get insurance 3rd party or out by lunch tomorrow… Saturday … ick .. so much we could have done here and spent here… although there are no big stores here … no fast food either … 2 supermarkets and one bulk store … we went to all three … nothing spectacular… the iga supermarkets were like just steps away from each other … one called exmouth the other Ningaloo…lol weird how most places have two names … so back to the boat we go and try and get most things done while still trying to get insurance ….its unbelievably hard to get 3rd party insurance for this boat … gggeeezzzz…so the bitch was unforgiving and we were outta there… well we thought , we’d make a run for Carnarvon…earlier but ha noooo says the waves and the swell and the wind … you knot goin no where … I was getting scared of the waves and being bounced around harder than ever before …. Our yardstick for how bad it is … motoring along not feeling any waves is of course the best … going with the waves and slight up and down is ok .. side to side is not good but manageable if small.. seeing the water almost up to the rail … scary stuff … and inside when the utensil draw opens and closes those rollys ain’t good (side to side) especially when the bouncers are going on at the same time … and the utensils start jumping outta the draw that is the worst … rollers and bouncers … sheesh…
And that was when Capt’n was turning around to go see shelter at the shore…
He found a spot he though was good , until early morning when the rollers there came in …but there wasn’t anywhere to go …we had to just sit those out …very uncomfortable…but they died down around mid morning leaving it nice and flat … those bastards though started in again around dark but weren’t as bad as the morning before … so that’s been our weekend … a morning we made a run for the window and think we started a little early with some hairy waves …but its settled down now and we have just the swell … of about 2m …ick enough … that too should be calming down by this afternoon hopefully
A few more boats are out there this morning ….mainly fishing boats keith says , he has been passed by two … wonder how the cope with the big swells … and rough seas….
And there are no associated storms with this stuff its just normal ..
Memo to self , ain’t doin the west coast again …lol

So recommodations for exmouth…. Have insurance … unless you want to spend your money on sight seeing in the ocean … that’s all there is there … quaint little shops … that’s about it …
