Four day fishing trip

Day 1.. 11.2.2021... We have planned a few days out fishing with Keith’s two helpers ..

Mike and his family from across the road and their mate steve.. Who helped when we needed the boat painted and scrubbed .. keith paid them with beers each day but a fishing trip is what will really do it … and we need it too … taking the old girl out again … we have been land bound too long ...lol ..

What we have planned and what will happen ..as always will be two different things as usual ...lol .. i believe we have not learned and will be under prepared as usual ...lol we shall see …

So at 11:30am , keith did an awesome job of backing us out of our pen … smooth and without a hitch ...he’s getting good at this stuff … all are up top watching where we are going … i’m not too sure but can see some signs and know we are turning ..lol

Keith has cut a hole in one side of our boat purely for me to get on and off … lol but it was round a different way in the pen but i climbed through the railing … now that was funny ...so glad that graham didn’t think to tape it … might reinact in one day … aahhhhhh i hear the splash of water on from the sides what a wonderful sound …

The sky is blue blue blue and i’ve not seen the sea yet but it is supposed to be fairly flat for the next 4 days … so yes the plan is 4 days at sea fishing and having fun ..cooking up a storm at night with BBQ, of either meat or fish if we catch any … so thats it for now … catch ya soon …

Day 2..

And out to sea we go … he was heading for a reef a few miles off shore but the waves got a bit much for one of the others kids and he had a bit of burley going for us fishing ..lol… so we picked up anchor and headed closer to shore for the night … we caught nothing ...keith had a big one that spat it out … the others caught a stingray, and many little fish.. A little but edible shark .. keith crumbed the fish and cooked it up for the others while i had a steak they cooked on the bbq and snags ..

Then settled down for the night as it was getting quite cool …

Day 3..

Still looking for a place to fish .. went to a different place from yesterday but saw nothing and caught nothing much ...just small stuff not edible and stingrays .. the kids still had fun and later we came in and went closer to shore and the kids wanted to go swimming they all put their life jackets especially the younger kids and went in after their mum went in first , then dad , then all the kids after graham .. so proud of graham getting in when he can't see the bottom and a chance of sharks being around ... they all had an awesome time , it was good to see .. so we had a different dinner this night and all the kids loved it ... had some ravioli and creamy bacon sauce ... the other family had never eaten this before and absoultely loved it ...

Day 4..

home day ... but not for a while ... so we headed out to sea a bit further again but saw nothing much again ... so started into shore ... when we saw some fish on the radar we stopped and lines went out ... this time though Mike caught a decent sized pink snapper... was awesome and he was so stoked ... we all started getting bites but no one caught any thing else decent to eat ... so we up anchor again and with a bit of hassle and tried a new place ... this time is was Louises' turn to catch the same decent pink snapper .. how cool .. and then mike caught a hapuka ... and one of the spikes got keith ... (still his finger hurts, a week after) .. again the bites got less and we continued further towards the marina ... we caught nothing more .... and keith filleted all the fish and left the leftover bits out to sea for the other fish to munch on ....

we arrived later in the afternoon .. i had been mostly under the shade cloth the entire time ...moving with the shade and still i got horribly burnt on my face ... arms and neck .. mostly i've turned brown ... so we get into the pen easy and a couple of the kids went and ran around the dock .. we tried to reign them in ... a couple times ... and then we were all gone after the boat was emptied of all our stuff ...

consenses was that it was a fun trip over all and the kids did well till the very end and on the dock..

post note ... unfortunately we got a warning from the office for noise and have been given one strike ... sigh
