A visitor
While sitting in the marina awaiting we got a visitor. Kenny drove down from Perth for the weekend. This was great, especially when we thought we'd not see him for a long time when we left.
So Friday evening he arrived and we chatted about lots of things, as you do. But main thing was the new joycem website, he is making from scratch. He is telling me about how he has secured the backend from hackers, which is great. We have since found out that it was not just our new site before, that got hacked but a whole lot of wordpress clients had the same thing done. So with that gone and all our hard work, Ken decided it was time to make one of his own. I love this and how very clever our son is with this stuff. so very proud of him.
so saturday we got up around 8, and while sitting deciding what to do, i suggested since the waves had calmed out of the harbour, we could go fishing out in the bay.. lots of other boaties were out there. we headed out and it was nice going with a little breeze ( always seems to be a breeze here). we put down the anchor and started to fish .... got a couple bites then nothing ... then santa's reel whizzed out .. but it was only a stingray ... then the odd bite but nothing much and santa's reel went again ... yup another damn stingray ... as the waves were whipping up and the wind was too , we decided to pack it up and head back in .. the guys needed some supplies for the night.. so they went to town and I started fishing off the boat ... no sooner we get in the water they start biting ... when they boys got back ken was eager to get his line in ... plenty of bites and a fish that hopped off right at the point of bringing him in .. we got a few pinkies all undersized ...
Then, a bloke from the colourful boat in the marina, a maori fella, called around to say g'day , keith has talked to him before and he'd given us a lobster or crayfish as they call 'em ... it was so yummy , we were eager to see if he could give us another so that ken could taste it .. but he didn't have any.
As we were chatting to him a fella came in from fishing (commercial). He'd not long purchased his boat, so this fella went off to see him and came back with a hapuka ( grouper ) saying if we wanted a fillet and he'd have the rest .. for a 6 pack of beer .. so we did and later caught a couple plate sided snapper ... a feast of fish for dinner ... the hapuka was huge , 3 big bits of fillet for each of us and snapper fillets too ... we were so full. Poor kenny later that night got a bit crook.
Sunday dawned, not so bright. We were watching telly when the maori bloke called out to us .. He had just come in from checking their pots and had another crayfish for us to cook, so this time hubby baked it with garlic butter ... man o man was that nice .. so after brunch the boys went out to fish, but we have run out of bait so they are off to town to get some more... it's stormy out there at the moment, not too much rain but lots of thunder ... and that's a good time to go fishing ... so when they get back we'll be into it again .... what a weekend !!!!!!
