will that anchor hold

out on the hook

We finally made it out of the Marina and hot foot it to Quaranup across the princess royal harbour as they call it ...

this is where we were for a couple days before going back into the marina ... it is mainly protected from most winds except the south westerlies ... so we set up the anchor and started ... you guessed it !! FISHING ... but not much was around ...and it got a bit cool so we put it off till the next day ... what else is there to do when the generator is off ... welll work but who wants to do that right ??!!

chatting to our good mate Mark he was concerned with the incoming weather being a storm from the south west and thought the better place to ride it out would be oyster harbour / emu point ... across the other side of king george sound ... so we had some breaky and tried to pull up the anchor ... but the 2nd one was a bit heavy .... eventually that came up and off we went to a mooring ball ... 72 hours for free... then you have to move ....

we had a nice run across the sound , and emu point is littered with sand banks ... and low and behold of course ... WE FOUND ONE !!

as soon as he felt it touch , keith backed off the engine and straight into reverse .. but no such luck we were stuck ... the storm was starting to come in ... a little boat tried to help but there was precious little he could do ... implementing the anchor trick of the previous beaching , we inched around when the tide was coming up ... but ....

the winds had changed with the storm and were pushing us onto the sandbank ...even when we were no longer stuck ... the strong winds held us there ... so keith had to move the anchor around a bit more and finally we were right to head to the mooring ball ....

meanwhile i went downstairs , and left the boys to it ... Graham was a tremendous help to keith and both of them were soaking wet after it was all done ... i am so proud of graham for the help he was to his dad .... and once on the ball we didn't feel the winds at all .... and the storm blew through ... we had a very nice 72 hours over there .... with easterlies picking up for the week , the better place to be was Quaranup ...so we headed back overthere ....
