The renovation continues, with a short break of course.

Today our focus was the shelf and preparing the cabinets for paint. While I was working on cutting and preparing the crown moulding and shelf ledge, Skyla focused on sanding, priming, and painting the cabinets.

Without the proper tools, cutting the crown moulding and shelf ledges were next to impossible. Of course they were not perfect by any means, but I'm still proud of what I achieved without the correct tools.

Getting straight cuts became one of the biggest challenges for me. I felt like the only way was to cut oversized and then sand it as flat as possible, but even that proved trickier with the crown moulding being angled and requiring a lot of extra thought into the angles for them to join nicely. (Spoiler alert, they needed some more love after being cut, and we filled the gaps between the moulding joints with drywall filler)

This has been a draft for a couple weeks because we went on a little vacation!

We should have a final (Part 3) update soon!
